CPR Mask:  Adult/Child & Infant

Cost:  $150.00
The American Heart Association's PALS course is designed for pediatricians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, emergency physicians and other healthcare providers who care for infants and children.  This course is video-led that uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systemic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics.  The goal of the PALS course is to improve the quality of care provided for seriously ill or injured children and infants, resulting in improved outcomes.

HeartCode PALS is the AHA's blended learning delivery method for the AHA's PALS course.  Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on session.

HeartCode PALS is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings.  Enter the course, and students will then be presented with a team dynamics lesson and 10 in-hospital patient cases, including a BLS case and 2 Megacode cases.  The cases may be repeated as many times as necessary to pass.  Upon successful completion of all the patient cases, students will take a 50-question multiple choice exam and must pass with a minimum score of 84%.  There are a variety of additional videos as well as the PALS Provider Manual to enhance learning and facilitate successful completion of the patient cases.

The PALS course covers

  • Systemic approach to pediatric assessment
  • Management of pediatric respiratory emergencies
  • Vascular access (including intraosseous training)
  • Airway management
  • PALS pharmacology
  • Basic Life Support review
  • Rhythm disturbances and electrical therapy
  • Numerous pediatric case studies and simulations
  • Know how to be both a team leader and a team member in a resuscitation team
  • Summary of critical concepts provided for each eSimulation case
  • Virtual debriefings provided immediately after each eSimulation
  • Provides online access to the PALS Provider Manual
  • Multiple choice, 50-question exam to test cognitive knowledge
  • Certificate of completion available after the modules, exam, and course evaluation have been completed successfully
  • Students may access all information included in HeartCode PALS for 24 months following activation of course

Intended audience for this course

The PALS course is for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management  of respiratory and/or cardiovascular emergencies and cardiopulmonary arrest in pediatric patients; personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units; physicians, nurses, and paramedics; and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements.  The course is 3.75 CE units.  We do not offer CE's here, but you can present your certification to your training coordinator for credit.

Hours

The PALS Heartcode online certification course includes three parts
  • Part 1:  A self-paced series of online training modules; 3 - 6 hours based on experience
  • Part 2:  Hands-On skill assessment with an approved AHA training center.  This includes 2 Megacode scenarios and CPR evaluation.  This is 30 minutes to 1.5 hours based on experience
  • Part 3:  Receive your two-year certification with the American Heart Association via email the same day

  • PALS HeartCode and BLS Combined Course:  It's always nice to only have to go to a training once every two years rather than your certifications expiring at different times.  Why not take care of your PALS HeartCode online and get your BLS certification at the same time?  This course will have you walking out the door with two certifications.  PALS is completed online, and BLS is taken care of completely in person
  • PALS HeartCode, ACLS Heartcode, and BLS Package:  If you thought two certifications at one time was good, wait until you can get all three certifications knocked out at once.  Woo wee!  This is our golden package which includes PALS Heartcode competed online, ACLS HeartCode completed online, and BLS completed in person.  You'll need a dolly to carry all of these items out the door
  • We also now have FULLY ONLINE courses for ACLS, PALS, and BLS (BLS is for renewals only).  See the light yellow squares below for additional information.  Why come to class when you can do everything in the convenience of your own home???
